Community Engagement Leader – Seasonal Summer Student
Do you have an interest in environmental issues, an enthusiasm for community engagement and a passion for making a positive impact?
Calgary Region Airshed Zone Society is hiring for a Community Engagement position to work with the Engagement Program Manager. This position plays an important role in improving our outreach and engagement with our CRAZ members, community groups and the general public with an outcome of increasing knowledge about air quality and building strategic relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research outreach opportunities and collaborations with community leaders, municipalities and community associations that benefit the public and CRAZ members
- Develop engaging materials; use multimedia tools to enhance education and communication initiatives.
- Set up engaging and informative booths to attract attendees
- Represent CRAZ at regional community events, festivals and gatherings
- Deliver presentations on air quality, and its impact on health
- Gather feedback and data on public concerns related to air quality
- Assist Executive Director and Engagement Program Manager with administrative duties.
Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary education preferred (e.g. environmental related: science, communications, policy, education) but not necessary.
- Comfortable delivering verbal communication and public speaking (booths + presentations)
- Writing/editing skills for outreach materials
- Basic research and summarizing (finding outreach opportunities; capturing feedback themes)
- Basic tech competence (MS Office, simple design tools like Canva)
- Ability to lift/carry event materials
- Assets include experience with outreach or small event management.
- Cell phone, valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and valid insurance is required.
Position Details:
- Position starts ASAP, ends August 21, 2026
- 30 hours a week, $20/hour
- Available to work evenings/weekends occasionally (events)
- Work is hybrid – CRAZ office as well as out in the CRAZ region
- Mileage reimbursement.
